'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the nail-biting final moments of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear following the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful shot from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess quickly converted the loose ball before charging toward the home end to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This completed an unbelievable turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 midway through the second half. During the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win secured a upcoming match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for having a go from that distance," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right defensive wing after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

City's Quality

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It requires a strong mentality and concentration just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has quickly achieved similar status in south Wales. At Orient he reunited with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at League Two the Manchester club, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without serious challenge. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that growth for his team and nation, shining for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including home and away fixtures against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the player from the local area in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his parent, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

His single match for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "This turned out quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

New Environment

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with a teammate, the Brazilian, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and on the road. His teammate is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
